Additional information about this location.
1: Grand Menard is located about 1 mile north of the Ninemile ranger station. There are picnic sites for both small and large groups, horseshoe pits, a volleyball court, and a playing field. Drinking water is available in the summer. The interpretive Discovery Trail at the south west end of the picnic area has two loops, each less than a mile long. The inner loop is wheelchair accessible and about 80% of the outer loop is wheelchair accessible. Users should be careful of steep banks along the sides of the trails in a few places. The trail also has some loose debris on it such as sticks, pine cones and rocks. Interpretive brochures are available at the trail head or the ranger station.
The picnic tables at the southwest of the picnic area near the trail head have easier accessible routes to the restroom and picnic tables from parking than the picnic tables in the northeast portion of the area.
