About MonTECH Recreation
MonTECH is focused on increasing outdoor recreation opportunities for Montanans with disabilities and those who experience limitations through aging in a variety of ways.
First, MonTECH helps Montanans participate in wildlife viewing, fishing, hunting, and other related activities, such as camping and hiking, by offering an equipment library that checks out assistive technology to aid in the pursuit of these activities. This equipment library was originally made possible by the Montana Access To Outdoor Recreation (MATOR) project. The equipment is now available for checkout through the Montana Assistive Technology Program (MATP) website.
Second, MonTECH has collaborated with Missoula Parks & Recreation to help provide inclusive programs to the Missoula community (and beyond) that offer opportunities to experience, learn, enjoy, and grow in the outdoors. To learn more about these opportunities, visit Missoula Parks & Recreation's MORE program website.
Third, MonTECH is excited to announce a new program called Wheels Across Montana (WAM), Funded by a Quality of Life High Impact Innovative Assistive Technology grant from the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, that places adaptive bicycles and trycycles across the the state for individual loan. To learn more about the WAM program and check out equipment, visit the Wheels Across Montana (WAM) website.
Fourth, MonTECH compiled a database that can be accessed through a webpage that is a one-stop resource for comprehensive accessibility information for Montana public recreation lands. The origin of this project was the Montana Accessible Recreation Opportunities project. Though the funding for this project has officially ended, many of resources developed through the project still remain. Search for Recreation Site.
More Montana recreation opportunities can be found on the Montana Disability & Health Program's (MTDH) Resources on Recreation and Exercise page.
